Still not getting the lighting and shadows right.. especially on the house.. How do I capture the sky's blue fill light (cool) in the shadows when it's a warm sunny day? (warm key light)? It conflicts me in my color choices for the lit and shadowed areas. Obviously a cool shadow with a warm lit area isn't working, now that I step back, I see that the ref image has the shadow warmer (now that I zoom out more).. maybe i'll zoom out more to see the images better.
Till tomorrow.

The warmth in the shadow is caused by the bounce light coming from the warm ground. The shadow side will be still cooler than the sunny side.
ReplyDeleteSquinting your eyes will help you to see values more clearly. Notice how in the reference the shadow side is significantly darker than the light site. In your version they are very close in value.
Sunlight makes things warm so the highlight sides like the yellow part of the roof and the ground can be much warmer (adding more red)
Keep em coming!
